Integrative Health Implementation Track (1 to 5 pm EST)  - Zoom

  • Led by Wayne Jonas, MD
  • Location:  Virtual via Zoom
  • Registration Fees: This is a complimentary workshop. Cost to attend = $0

  • Who should attend: Health care practitioners, leaders, students, and residents interested in practicing and implementing whole person or integrative health care including non-drug, self-care, lifestyle, and behavioral approaches to treat chronic disease and chronic pain for themselves, their practices, and their systems.

  • Course overview:

Most chronic diseases seen in primary care can be prevented or even improved by addressing their underlying social and behavioral determinants. Yet these determinants are poorly managed in medicine. The COVID pandemic has highlighted even further the need to enhance our ability to address chronic disease and its risks. Those dying of COVID are often the same who die of common chronic illnesses such as obesity, diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, and mental health conditions; and, disproportionately affect the elderly, minorities, the poor, and people of color. We need to enhance our ability to address these root causes of chronic disease and COVID impact more effectively. We call this enhancement person-centered integrative health care.

The Family Medicine Education Consortium (FMEC) hosted a year-long learning collaborative beginning Sept 2020 for family medicine residencies, FQHCs, DPC practices, and other clinics and health systems. The teams worked to improve the delivery of person-centered integrative health practices into routine primary care.

  • Overview:
Since 2008, the FMEC has sponsored this one-day meeting that showcases the success of the Family Physicians and others who are using primary care-driven innovations to change the care delivery systems in their respective communities.  They have found a way to care for their patients/communities that improves health while reducing the cost of care.

The FMEC serves as a catalyst, convener, and incubator that showcases their work and helps them to attract supporters and partners. If you are looking for the "cutting edge" join us for this year's meeting.
