FMEC Board Member-at-Large Vacancies The FMEC Board has regular vacancies and is looking for active FMEC members who want to become leaders. Candidates must be in the FMEC region (14 states +DC – see the list on the FMEC website). FMEC membership (either individual membership, or membership via an FMEC Partner organization – see the FMEC Partner list) is encouraged but not required. Active participation in the FMEC via speaking at or helping plan the Annual Meeting, participating in a learning collaborative, or other means will contribute to a strong application. For more information and how to apply, contact Scott Allen at [email protected].
Be an FMEC Leader – join a committee or project The FMEC is committed to providing students, residents, and faculty in our region with volunteer opportunities that develop their skills, advance their new ideas, and create connections with other family medicine experts throughout the region. Read about opportunities below, and visit FMEC Volunteer Sign Up Form to express your interest.
- Help plan future FMEC Annual Meetings: The Host Committee is mostly FMEC members local to the meeting; they pick the theme and plenary speakers and fundraise for the meeting. The Planning Committee reviews and rates program submissions to help assemble the educational program agenda.
- Join committees that advance academic family medicine: Opportunities include Leadership/Mentorship, Medical Student Education, Faculty Development, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, and FMEC Journal Editors and Reviewers.
- Help recognize outstanding work in family medicine by joining an award jury.
- Get involved in an FMEC project. Current projects address integrative medicine, hereditary breast cancer, medical humanities, IMPLICIT (low-birthweight, 4th trimester care), and oral health/medical-dental collaboration.
